Lesson Objectives

Participants will learn about the following:

  1. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs theory proposes that certain human needs must be fulfilled in a particular order before higher needs become conscious. 
  2. Physiological needs, the first level of needs, must be met for each survivor group, including crew members and company employees whose lives are at risk.
  3. The Ripple is the model for organizing responses to survivors and families impacted by a crisis in the workplace.
  4. First circle in the center of the ripple, or those in harm’s way whose lives are at risk and may become injured or killed, or  primary survivors;
  5. The second circle is secondary survivors, which includes family members and loved ones of those who were injured, killed, or who lived through the crisis;
  6. Third circle, Care and Special Assistance Team members and all company employees who assisted in the response.
